Claudia DeVaney, Lcsw

Claudia DeVaney, LCSW

 Welcome!

My name is Claudia DeVaney and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in North Carolina. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life’s transitions in addition to helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship stressors and complex, attachment-based trauma. Reaching out for support can be intimidating, especially during times of change. As a therapist, my goal is to meet clients where they’re at and support them as they build clarity, resilience, and a more loving relationship with themselves. Using an integrative approach, I draw from various evidence-based practices to meet each client’s unique needs including: dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care.

Having navigated challenges in my own personal life, I bring a deep sense of empathy and understanding to my work and believe in the power of healing past wounds while building self-compassion, awareness, and acceptance. My approach is rooted in the belief that growth happens when individuals feel safe, supported, and truly seen. Together I work with clients to strengthen a greater sense of self, develop healthy coping strategies, and gain insight into how past and present experiences shape who we are today. I have experience working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults in a variety of settings and have a special interest in supporting individuals in the emerging adulthood phase of life.

Before joining Asheville DBT and Trauma Therapy I worked as a school-based therapist in Buncombe and Haywood County supporting clients ages 5-18. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and received my graduate degree in social work from Western Carolina University. Outside of my role as a therapist, I enjoy listening to and playing music, hanging out with my family and dog, learning new recipes in the kitchen, and spending time outside exercising and being in nature.

My belief is that connection is the basis of healing. I am happy to spend some time exploring whether we could be a good fit and look forward to connecting with you!
