Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want to acknowledge how meaningful it is that you’ve made it to this page. Reaching out for support isn’t always easy. It takes courage, self-awareness, and a willingness to do something different. Wherever you are in your journey, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Here is a little bit about me and what I do: My name is Jaelyn Wilson, and I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHCA). I earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Health Service Psychology at Western Carolina University. In my work, I’ve had the opportunity to support clients through individual and group therapy, working with concerns such as anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, neurodevelopmental differences, and substance use. I’m especially passionate about working with young adults and those in transitional stages of life. Whether you’re navigating identity, relationships, past experiences, or major life changes, this season can feel both challenging and defining. My goal is to help you make sense of your experiences while also building the skills and confidence to move forward in a way that feels true to you.
In our work together, I focus on creating a space that feels real where you can show up as you are and feel genuinely heard and supported. At the same time, I’m not afraid to gently challenge you when it matters, because growth often happens when we step just outside of what feels comfortable. I truly believe that everyone has the capacity for change and that therapy is simply a space to strengthen that, learn new tools, and create a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and worth living. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing, but more importantly, I tailor our work to you, your goals, your experiences, and what actually works in your life. Outside of therapy, I’m a musician, a wife, a dog mom, a lifelong learner, and someone who loves a good board game night.
If you’re ready to start this work, I’d be honored to be part of your journey. I’ll leave you with a quote from one of my favorite books, the same one that inspired me at the very beginning of my journey as a clinician:
“But part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself—to let go of the limiting stories you’ve told yourself about who you are so that you aren’t trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you’ve been telling yourself about your life.” – Lori Gottlieb (Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed)
