**Accepting new private pay teen clients for TF-CBT trauma therapy!**
Are you feeling confused or discouraged as to what to do next to support your child? Are they or you more distant, acting different, seem more irritable or angry? Are they struggling at school, stressed by peer relationships, have low motivation? Are either of you having difficulties regulating or coping with uncomfortable emotions? Perhaps the emotions are coming out sideways: defiance, refusal, self-harm, eating struggles, anger, excessive worry, withdrawing. It’s common to delay seeking counseling, to question if it’s truly what you need, hoping for things to improve on their own, or perhaps waiting for them to worsen. Finding the right therapist is important.
My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for you and/or your child to share, heal, grow and thrive. I combine techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also trained in Brainspotting for treatment of trauma. Through evidence based practices, I can help you build skills to cope and rewrite old patterns that are no longer working for you. My approach is nurturing, collaborative, and responsive to your unique situation. We will work together towards your goals while deepening your connection to yourself and others.
I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My clinical experience comes from working with adolescents and families in long-term residential treatment and transitional independent living settings. My areas of specialization include: adolescent development and mental health, challenges at home and/or school; affirmative care for LGBQIA+, transgender, and gender expansive teens and young adults; adjustment to life transitions for adults; and parent support/coaching to manage stress, anxiety & parental PTSD.
I believe that therapy is one of the most worthwhile investments you can make. Though it might feel overwhelming to decide to start, it offers the unique opportunity to reflect, heal, and discover a life that is worth living. I deeply respect your courage to engage in this process. I am ready when you are.
